Wilstead Community Website working for YOU

Wilstead Community Website. Updated 7th July 2008.

Welcome to the Wilstead Community Website.

The site is sponsored by the Parish Council, but it is a community resource and we want to hear from you.

Let us know about your interests, local groups and organisations, your news and views. Anything, in fact, that will help people new and old find out about what goes on in Wilstead so that they can join in and fully participate in village life.

Are you new to Wilstead? Then you are very welcome and we hope you will join in with all community activities. One of the benefits of living in Wilstead (or Wilshamstead as it is formally known) is that you can get to know your neighbours and other people in the village quite quickly. If you are interested in being part of village life then there is plenty for you to join in with. For details have a look at the index and the calendar index of events, but here is a taster to begin with:

for young children:

* toddler groups in the Evangelical Church hall on a Wednesday and in the Methodist hall on a Friday
* pre-school playgroup in the village hall every morning
* a brownie pack

all ages:

* football club - several teams
* P3 footpath group
* flower and produce association
* allotments
* various church groups
* Wilstead Players
* Bowls club

older people:

* Sunshine Club in the village hall every other Friday afternoon
* coffee morning in the Methodist hall every Thursday morning

We have a very active Parish Council, a Residents' Association for those living on Briar Bank Park, riding stables and 3 churches. The village is also well served by the Post Office and Store, a mini-market, two take-away restaurants and two pubs. These last are core to a thriving village and we urge you to use them - or lose them.

To find out more, look on the relevant pages on this website or send us a message. We will pass it on to someone who will be able to give you further information.
